Haynes’ art practice explores the limits of language and subjectivity, and  re-examines art history and philosophy in  relation to gender politics.  In her drawing installations and performative  video works, Haynes performs a playful mixing of  language codes and systems – drawn from  abstraction, conceptual art, pop music,  modernist literature and  philosophical traditions – and enacts a gendered  ‘redrawing’ of these  texts. Studio Remix is an ongoing and evolving  drawing  installation that is revised and adapted for specific exhibition   contexts, weaving the logic of the studio into the gallery. In each  remix,  provisional relationships are created between drawings completed  over the last  five years, exploring subtle inter-textual connections and optical  resonances.
